Warp speed ahead seems to be SEIKO's product philosophy towards recreating icons of their glorious past. Fondly refered to as UFO which of course was named after their UFO shaped case, the distinctively retroish case from the late 60's has now resurfaced unannounced in five versions (for now at least). Three of these are limited editions (the three in leather) and two are regular runs (both in bracelet).

The new visitors now spot a 44mm lugless cushion case in steel and circular grain finishing in both leather strap and bracelet versions and also a choice of steel, black or gold IP coating (ion plating). The machine inside is the hackable plus windable 42 hour power reserve mechanical automatic workhorse 4R15 with crown at 4 just like they use to be. The rectangular day/date window frame has had its four corners rounded like yesteryear too. The dial would just not be complete with a wide outer minute rehault dial angled to enhance readability and depth.

They arrive with matching bracelet which i must say was very nicely designed, or old school vintage straps that have been glued and only anchor stitched at lug pin sides. To complete the looks, the packaging is old school cardboard that will aged nicely in your drawer.

I do have this thing about watch makers printing on see through back glass, which they did. The three in leather are limited but not numbered to 1969 pieces, representing the year in which SEIKO first issued them.
